Brian Cobb (born 1980 in San Jose, California) is a American professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter. Cobb currently fights for Ultimate Fighting Championship in their lightweight division.
Brian Cobb had his first fight 2004, Cobb won the fight via submission early in the first round. After that fight, Cobb lost his next two fights. Cobb collected a 9-4 record before getting a fight with the now defunct promotion, the ShoXC. Cobb won the fight at the end of round one, he won the fight via rear naked choke. Cobb had one more fight before being signed to PFC. Cobb debuted in PFC, winning the PFC Lightweight Championship Title. Cobb successfully defended the title twice before getting signed by the UFC. Since Cobb signed with the UFC, Cobb had to relinquish the PFC lightweight title.
Cobb signed a four fight deal with the Ultimate Fighting Championship on February 13th of 2009. Cobb made his UFC debut, February 21st of 2009. He fought Terry Etim at UFC 95, where he was defeated by Etim via TKO in the first ten seconds of round two. The defeat snapped Cobb's nine-fight winning streak. Etim appeared to win the first round, using leg kicks effectively. When the fight went to the ground Cobb failed to score points, as Etim avoided damage on the ground. Early in round two Etim dropped Cobb with a head kick before finishing the fight with punches. Forcing the referee to stop the fight.
