Cain Velasquez is a American born MMA fighter of Mexican descent. He's a former 2-Time All-American collegiate wrestler from Arizona State and a Junior College National Champ at Iowa Central Community College. He was a two time 5A state champ in AZ for Kofa High School under Shawn Rustad & Marty Niblo. He currently competes in the UFC in the heavyweight division. Velasquez won his UFC debut at UFC 83 against Brad Morris due to strikes in the 1st round.
After the victory over Morris, Velasquez went on to win five UFC fights in a row, which would earn him a title shot vs. Brock Lesnar at UFC 121 in Anaheim, California.
After an initial bull rush by Lesnar, Velasquez was taken down but got to his feet immediately. He went on to rock Lesnar with punches while standing, scored a takedown of his own, and later dropped the champion where he finished him on the mat to become the new UFC Heavyweight Champ.
