Jason Brilz is an American mixed martial arts fighter. He has competed in various Midwest-based promotions, including the VFC, debuting at the UFC at UFC Fight Night 15.
Jason Brilz began his career as a high-school wrestler, winning the state championship of Nebraska. He continued to be a four-year letterman in college, at the University of Nebraska, eventually making his MMA debut in 2000. He has gone on to achieve an 11-win streak, and has been in various talks with the UFC throughout the years, but he has finally secured his debut deal to fight in his native Omaha, Nebraska, at the UFC Fight Night 15.
Originally, he was rumored to fight Thales Leites at UFC Fight Night 15, but ended up fighting Australian Brad Morris, defeating him via TKO at the 2nd round. He is now scheduled to appear at the UFC 96 preliminary card, fighting Tim Boesch.
Despite this relative success in his career, he has stated he is not interested in pursuing fighting full-time.
Brilz was a late addition to UFC 114 when Forrest Griffin pulled out of a fight with Antonio Rogerio Nogueira due to injury. The short-notice didn't hurt Brilz as he gave the seasoned Nogueira all he could handle although losing a controversial decision.
