John P. Alessio (born July 5, 1979) is a Canadian mixed martial artist (MMA). Alessio is currently fighting for World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) as a welterweight. Alessio has fought for many of the major MMA promotions, including WEC, UFC, PRIDE, KOTC, and EliteXC.

Alessio was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. He later moved to Duncan, on Vancouver Island. He rode freestyle BMX. When he was 19 years old he decided to pursue fighting.While in Duncan Alessio trained under Canadian ledgend Jason Heit in a back yard gym. Alessio then moved to California where he began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at The Shark Tank.

At only 20 years old Alessio made his UFC debut fighting legendary fighter Pat Miletich. Alessio lost the fight to the more experienced Miletich, but his career moved forward. Alessio went on to fight in PRIDE, WEC, KOTC, and UFC again. Alessio recently signed a three fight contract with EliteXC.
