Why I Love: Chuck Liddell
by Natalia Baage on March 13, 2010
a rough fight. But, it doesn't look like we're gonna get to see that fight after all. Next in line for Chuck? Looks like Rich Franklin.

So how does it stand? Chuck's one of the all-time greats in MMA. Whether you love him or you hate him, his place will always be cemented in UFC history.

 |  (42) Comments Storm: thats one thing that no one can really deny. people like Chuck, Randy, and Tito are legends that brought the sport into the light. now we have new rising legends in Penn, GSP, and Anderson. Mtx: Although I don't always agree with your points Nat, I love these articles! It really shows how passionate you are about the sport and some particular fighters. Great read :) Wandering_Minstrel: Great article Natalia. I will always be a Chuck fan. He is among the elite legends of the sport, that even the most casual fan will know their name. Giada Esposito: Great read Natalia. I love Chuck too. He's done so much for the UFC over the years, and put on so many great fights for the fans. I hope he can finish his career now on a winning note. arlovskiviako: I have never liked Liddell, probably because my cousin loves him. mike5k: My first mma article was a piece on Chuck. To me, watching Chuck lose is like watching Pulver lose. It's physically painful for me. Some people are saying that the sport has evolved past him, some are saying that he was always kinda one-dimensional and never that good anyway, and some are saying he should retire. Chuck Liddell has one of (if not THE) best resume's of quality wins in mma history and if he was ever one-dimensional, that dimension was pretty damn good. Chuck can retire when HE'S ready and not a moment sooner. He's earned it. arlovskiviako: He has earned the right to constantly lose and take up 100,000 a fight that could be spent on someone that is actually good. Fighters like Mousasi or Alvarez or Aoki. Storm: i will admit. i am not a Liddell fan by any means, BUT when he is on a card... i feel a lil better. Storm: BUT the same can be said for Tito and Franklin as well. oddly enough to some... i am tired of seeing Couture on cards. Patrick Sullivan: Love that line about the abs. I like Chuck and I don't like seeing him lose. I think his best days are behind him and I wish he'd hang 'em up. GO HARD: i dont really mind seeing chuck fight, but only in what we call as "legend fights" where we get two old turds that havent evolved witht he sport and put them in the cage together. im kinda interested in franklin(although hes still got figth in him) vs chuck... but like many its kind of sad seeing chuck lose. definately one of the first mma fighters i started to love watching fight... and definately one of the top 10 names "ICEMAN", if not the best. good luck , chuck jonzero1: Nice article Natalia, this line sums up my opinion on the upcoming fight (if it is still on). "Fans might be more interested in seeing [Chuck & Tito] on TUF 11 instead of seeing them in the ring." People need to remember that Chuck was a lot of peoples first love in MMA, that never goes away. I am nervous about the fight, whoever it is against. I just hope for Chuck & his legacy that he wins. thug4less: Natalia Baage... you love you some old, beat-up fighters, huh? I kid, I kid... mostly. On a serious note, it's pure Hateration if you can't appreciate what Liddell's done for the sport and why people love him. So, while I have always found Liddell's style a bit off-putting, I can totally dig this one. I still can't get behind Mir though. Natalia Baage: Thanks everybody for your comments. :) Part of me wants to see Chuck in the Octagon again, because we all kinda "grew up" watching him fight. But I don't want anything bad to happen to him. He was king when he was king. Now he's just not on the top of the hill anymore.
