Thirty-six of Neglia's fighters have gone on to fight in the UFC. Matt Serra, Ricardo Almeida, the Miller brothers and newly-minted lightweight champion Frankie Edgar have all cut their teeth in Ring of Combat shows. "One of my guys who's 7-3 might have better luck than a 10-0 guy in the UFC because he's used to top competition," explains Neglia. "He won't fold when tested because he's used to being tested."
A staunch proponent of getting MMA legalized and regulated in New York, Neglia, a Brooklynite himself, plans on being one of the first to put on an MMA show at Madison Square Garden when it finally happens. Neglia's pro-am kickboxing show "Combat at the Capitale," held in lower Manhattan, is always standing-room-only. But not to worry, Jersey fight fans; Ring of Combat will still make regular appearances at the Tropicana.
