Varner took the mic and surprisingly gave praise to his sworn foe, Donald Cerrone.

"Donald Cerrone once again proved he's a tough dude. Donald, I don't like you, but you're one of the toughest dudes I've ever seen, I've ever met, I've ever watched fight. You're a fighter's fighter."

Varner then set his sights on a future unification bout with Henderson.

"Let's do this in December, let's do it whenever," said Varner. "All I want, I want this fight in my home state, where Ben trains, where I train, I want to do it in Phoenix, Arizona, so hopefully we can make that happen."

In the second feature bout of the evening, Team Quest's Dave Jansen make a successful WEC debut by scoring a unanimous decision win over former WEC lightweight title contender Rich Crunkilton. Jansen moved his MMA record to 13-0 and despite the loss, Crunkilton still sports an impressive 8-2 record with the WEC.

Other results from main card action include top-10 featheweight Raphael Assuncao besting newcomer Yves Jabouin via split decision, as well as rising bantamweight contender Damacio Page defeating Will Campuzano via submission just a little over a minute into their bout.

In notable preliminary card action, IFL veteran Deividas Taurosevicius scored a controversial split decision win over Javier Vazquez and Anthony Njokuani climbed further up WEC's lightweight divison rankings by dispatching EliteXC veteran Muhsin Corbbrey via second round TKO. In addition, former WEC bantamweight champ Eddie Wineland came out on top against Manny Tapia.

Ben Henderson was not the only one who scored a big upset win as Mackens Semerzier pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the year by submitting highly-regarded Wagnney Fabiano in the first round. The loss is so shocking because the former IFL featherweight champ, Fabiano, is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu submission specialist.
