The Hitman: shut up mir, your starting to annoy me
HackBennys: I hope Mir wrecks shop on Carwin just so you Mir haters will STFU for once and give him his credit. Of course, if he does win, everyone will be making excuses like "Carwin didn't look 100%" or some BS like that.
preacherl2k: I can remember back when Mir was coaching on TUF and I thought to myself how much I liked the guy, he seemed a little cocky but hey, he's a fighter, and don't you have to be a lil cocky to be a good fighter?
But as time has gone on and I've watched and listened to the guy- I've gone from a fan to a "please god let the guy shut his mouth"! I'm truly wondering if there is something wrong with the guy in the head, did Lesnar knock something loose when he beat Mir silly?
Mir is an outstanding fighter but psych wise the guy just scares me with his comments and Lesnar obsession!
He might want to focus on Carwin or he's going to find himself bloodied and silly in the head again and if that happens will he obsess and rant about Carwin all the time like he does about Lesnar now?
IwishIwasMMA: I wonder how many times he can make a statement to the press in a week... lets start counting now.
JujitsWho: God this fucktard loves to talk about himself..........If Carwin KO's him he will be my new favorite fight in the Universe
HappyHamer: There aren't many people who think his TKO of Nogueira has any relevance, due to his staph infection.
Listen to Mike Goldberg at the end of the Velasquez KO of Big Nog.
"NOW he's been stopped", indicating that even the commentators knew it wasn't a fit and healthy Nog.
If, as I hope, Mir becomes another 1st round KO for Carwin, expect to see "I was too focused on Brock" excuses as Mir desperately tries to get a third match with Lesnar.
MAStudent: Mir is lacking in personality, but I think he will do what he says he will to Carwin, and I want to see him fight a healthy Lesnar again.
$$$KUSH$$$: Mir took a tough loss at the hands of Brock. not only did he damage his face, he also damaged his pride. Mir is just doing a bunch of filler talk to boost his confidence. real strikers talk with their hands and diligently with their words.
He is improving his game very much so, and i cannot deny that. if he did as much work in the gym as he does remarking on himself he would be the most dangerous heavywieght in the UFC.
if he doesn't stop wasting everyone's time by attracting negative media; and stoking his own ego to build back up his confidence meter , Carwin might hand him that ass in a doggy bag to go...
GO HARD: great post happy hammer and u are right... nobody looks at the nog fight for any relivence.
carwin WILL win this... so many people forget that frank mir SUCKS!
t0xyg3n: all this smack talk whether you like it or hate it is only helping Mir's case. people either want to see him lose bad, or want to see him win big. both cases, people are watching his fights.
i don't know if he's improved his striking or his confidence in his striking but he's using it to good effect, more so than almost anyone at 265.
as for his comments on killing Brock- w/e he's a fighter its to be expected, and after that craziness after the fight at ufc100 he could say he'll skull fuck his wife i don't care this feud has been escalated on both sides. its an all in moment.
shawnb: well written nat.
see, i usually take fighters by how they look walking into the ring. when everyone said "hughes is gonna beat gsp again" i could see where they thought it. Then i saw the look georges had coming in and i said "holy shit matts fucked"
point is, that's some haunted dreams mir has there. he rocked brock in the last fight no question. i give the fight to brock eight times outta ten. but if there is some truth to that level of hunger........shit, i really dont know. i want to see this trilogy play out really bad now.
The Hitman: Mir didnt catch Kongo with a "lucky punch" because "kongo was being lazy". mir's standup has seriously improved and i think its very dangerous. he is a big fighter in the division and he is a handful for anyone he faces
GO HARD: lol guys i dont really think Mir sucks okay? but i do think some people overrate him. nobody here really... i think carwin will win this though... but note i also picked Big Nog and Kongo.. please Carwin, do not fail me.
IwishIwasMMA: I also picked Big Nog and Kongo.. but I also picked Vera, and Lesnar... it evens out pretty quickly.
With that said... I DID pick Mir in the first fight against Brock... and I still feel like i was wrong.
IwishIwasMMA: what injury? the one that happened like 3 years before that?
GO HARD: i also had mir beating brock the 1st fight... that was kinda rite b4 i started to hate him. q; D
Storm: wait wait wait....
Carwin has a "certified" chin? while Machida has a "questionable" chin?
Storm: there is more to consider then a black and white representation of them "recovering" or not. Carwin was pretty much out on his feet against Zaga and HAD Zaga not clinched and taken him down, i wouldve bet a possible finish on the feet. doing this GAVE Carwin the time needed to recover.
about Leben... do u not remember where he was nearly KO'd by Martin, but he came through and won by KO seconds later?
Storm: not to mention that i dont think someone can have a certified chin BECAUSE they were close to getting KO'd.
i think the judgment would be better placed by seeing how they werent phased by hard shots being landed. if a flush shot lands... and they werent phased. then they might have a good chin.
Carwin is not in that category.
IwishIwasMMA: carwins chin is far from certified... the guy got hit in the nose and was on dream street. Thats not a chin... thats a weak nose. If zaga hit him on the chin then he probably would still be out.
GO HARD: yeah carwin has a questionable chin. q: / jonathon goulet has a glass chin. q; )
xdusty: never in his career has he been tko'd or ko'd........and he still has a questionable chin. thats like a basketball player being 10-10 from 3 point land and following that with "he has a questionable shot"
if you have 11 pro fights in the hw division. three of which were in the ufc.....obviously you've been hit hard several times. seeing as how he hasnt hit the mat a single time from it, i think his chin should get alittle credit. common sense says that a guy with a glass chin wont go 11 fights without being tko'd.
$$$KUSH$$$: Frank Trigg is just one questionable guy.
IwishIwasMMA: No Carwin's chin is definitely in question... If you get hit in the NOSE or CHEEK with a punch, you should NOT be stunned if you are a pro fighter... you should NOT be hurt in the short term, but in the long term because of breathing and annoyances it can cause........
If you get hit in the JAW, it is understandable that you can get hurt or KOd. SO, with that said, Carwin's under the questionable list... and something tells me if he gets hit by someone with KO power, he wont be standing for long if at all.. especially if it hits directly on the button. If BROCK hits Carwin with a power shot, Carwin may die.
That is all.
