at mine. I'm looking for him to try and utilize more of his tools, maybe try and take me down a bit. I have to be on my toes and ready for anything he has to offer." Edgar is going into this rematch with a great attitude. That combined with an unbelievable work ethic is what got him to this point in his career. There is no time for detractors and nay-sayers; it's all about sticking to the game plan. Going with your strengths and taking advantage of your opponents' weaknesses.
It doesn't matter if people say he didn't do enough to beat the champion, all that matters is what it says in the history books. Years from now people will look back and see that on April 12, 2010 at UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi, Frankie Edgar defeated BJ Penn via unanimous decision to become the UFC lightweight champion. That's all that really matters to Edgar, that and another shot to do it again.
"It doesn't matter what people say," opined Edgar. "The belt is sitting in my house right now which means I must have done something right. Maybe giving me all five rounds was a bit much, but at the end of the day my arm was raised. Every single judge scored that fight in my favor. It is what it is. Luckily I get another chance to do it all over again"
So what can we expect come Saturday night when Edgar faces Penn, this time doing so as the defending champion?
"It's probably going to be very similar to the first fight. It'll be very close and I'm expecting another tough one. Hopefully things go my way again and I end up on top. It's been a crazy ride thus far and I'm not ready for it to end anytime soon."
