Frank Mir vs. Cheick Kongo

Round 1: Kongo misses with a combo early but Mir drops him with a GREAT left hand then lands a few shots before grabbing his head and putting Kongo to sleep with a choke.

Final Result: Mir wins by submission (choke) at 1:12 of round 1.

UFC Lightweight Championship- B.J. Penn vs. Diego Sanchez:

Round 1:  Sanchez comes forward but misses with a flurry and Penn lands a bomb that sends him to the floor. Penn pounces and lands some more punches but the challenger is able to get to his feet. Sanchez rushes into an uppercut and pins the champ to the fence. They break and Sanchez is backing up. Penn plods forward patiently. Sanchez shoots but the best takedown defense in the game won't allow it. Sanchez is throwing 1-2 combos but Penn's head movement is quick and Penn catches him with a nice right hand counter as the round ends in a 10-9 win for the champ.

Round 2:  Sanchez tries for a single leg but Penn isn't having it. He's balanced on one foot and punching Sanchez in the head until Sanchez releases him. Penn lands a nice 1-2 and Sanchez seems to be getting tentative. He lands an uppercut but Penn doesn't flinch. He lands a right but Penn slips a straight right of his own. Sanchez goes for another single leg but Penn stuffs it and counters with a right to the temple. Penn lands several more combos and averts another takedown attempt as the rounds in another 10-9 for Penn.

Round 3:  Sanchez lunges with a 1-2 but it's telegraphed. His high kick is blocked by Penn so he shoots but again can't take Penn down. Penn is on one foot again but this time lands elbows to Sanchez' head. Sanchez finally lets go of the leg and Penn thanks him with a left hook. Penn stalks forward and looks like he's trying to finish the fight. Sanchez grabs a leg but it's the same story. Penn gets away and turns up the heat on his wounded opponent. They clinch at the cage where Penn lands some dirty boxing and a nice low knee. The Prodigy lands a nice flurry as the round ends and doesn't even seem to be breathing heavily in another 10-9 win.

Round 4:  Sanchez' lower lip is busted open and he's clearly slowing down. Penn looks fresh as he stuffs a takedown attempt. Penn lands a nice 1-2 that sends Sanchez backward. They clinch to the cage and Penn claims another exchange. Penn just has Sanchez figured out. Everything he tries to do is countered by the champ. Penn lands a knee to the head and right hook to the temple before the round ends in yet another 10-9.

Round 5:  Penn lands a right to the mid-section so Sanchez goes for the single again but it's still not happening. Sanchez goes down but Penn sprawls and doesn't go with him. They're back to their feet. Penn...
