Brian Bowles Exclusive: Rematch with Miguel Torres imminent.
by Tommy Kail on February 22, 2010
fight with some new found confidence now that he's seen somebody beat Miguel. I think that'll work in Joseph's favor as opposed to fighting an undefeated Miguel. It's a tough fight that can go either way. I think it's obvious that the winner of that fight lines up for a title shot.

FiveKnuckles.com: WEC is certainly looking to put on the most exciting events and Miguel Torres was the poster boy for the division until you dethroned him. Is it more than likely that you'll run into him again sometime this year?

Brian Bowles: I wouldn't be surprised at all if our paths cross again in the near future. I don't want to look past my next fight at all, but if he wins his next fight and I win mine, we'll be fighting as soon as the WEC can put it together. There's a possibility that if both of us lose we'll be fighting again. I've been hearing some things out there, I've heard Miguel say in some interviews that he wants to fight me again regardless if it's for the title or not. He wants to fight me to avenge his loss. Now, it's up to the WEC on that one, but I'm sure it's a fight they want to make eventually.

FiveKnuckles.com: What do you think about the return of Jens "Lil Evil" Pulver on the same card?

Brian Bowles: It's pretty cool. I've been a fan of Pulver. I was there the last time he made his return, I think it was in Sacramento, but it was definitely cool, he's a legend in this sport. I'd like to see him rack up some wins. He was definitely somebody that I looked up to when I was coming up. He was a little guy fighting in the UFC which is something I aspired to. I'd like to see him do well.

FiveKnuckles.com: I remember you being honored at the Atlanta Braves game shortly after you won the title. What was that like, being honored in front of your hometown?

Brian Bowles: That was pretty cool. I got to go down to the dugout and check out the locker room. I wasn't really able to mess around with the players or anything. Fans in Atlanta have really come around to MMA and it's cool to see that.

It was cool though. I grew up down that way so I watched the Braves growing up. I was a huge baseball fan as a kid.

FiveKnuckles.com: Atlanta is a huge city and it's growing at a tremendous rate. What's the vibe for the fighters down there and how is the sport growing in that city?

Brian Bowles: It's coming along. It's not like the west coast yet, but it's definitely picking up down here. I can tell it getting more popular year after year. There are a lot of good gyms down this way too. I think more and more people are really starting to get behind some of these gyms. When local fighters start to make it big, they really get behind them. Rafael Assuncao is out of Atlanta and his last fight with Faber gave fans something to talk about.

FiveKnuckles.com: Do you think the UFC will be back in Atlanta sometime soon, or the WEC for that matter?

Brian...
