Lightweight Championship Bout: BJ Penn vs. Frankie Edgar

Round 1- BJ Penn makes his way to the cage. He looks ready to take care of business this time as he waits on Edgar to enter. Frankie Edgar makes his way to the cage looking hyped up and ready for a war. They both meet in the center and are given their instructions from ref Herb Dean. They return to their corners and get ready to come out fighting. The ref gives the sign to begin, and round 6 is underway. Edgar looks to land some shots and is countered hard by Penn. Edgar shoots in and scores the takedown but is almost swept in the process. Edgar fights through a sub attempt and is now in Penn's Butterfly guard. BJ stands back up and we get back to fighting. Edgar is easily the quicker of the two and lands a nice left. Penn is now stalking Edgar and lands a nice shot to the head. Penn lands a knee as he is pressed against the cage. Edgar lifts Penn in the air and slams him down. Penn gets up quickly and looks to land shots in the stand up. Penn lands a nice jab and Edgar counters with a solid leg kick. Penn lands a lunging left hook and continues to stalk. Edgar is nailed with a hard body shot and right hook, but lands a great body kick as the round ends. Penn advancing now with some nice punches. Frankie tries to clinch and is thrown to the side. Penn is playing the role of counter puncher and is landing some very nice shots. Penn works the jab and lands with a nice shot to the body. Penn is finding his range in the stand up, but Edgar lands a takedown against the cage. Penn is up quickly and goes back to work in the stand up. Edgar lands a very nice leg kick and is answered with a very hard left from Penn.
