MMA pioneer Dennis Hallman sits down with FiveKnuckles.com
by Tommy Kail on December 02, 2009
going to surpass baseball or football. People can relate to team sports better. People are always going to shy away from individual sports and flock to the fancy sports like baseball. I've been in the sport for over twelve years. Hopefully in another twelve years my kid is making a million dollars per fight if that's what he decides to do. Then maybe I can tell him that I was one of the guys that laid the groundwork for that to happen.

FiveKnuckles.com: What advice would you give to somebody starting out or very young in their MMA career?

Dennis Hallman: Learn as much as you can. Empty your cup every day. Train like you know nothing and listen to what others have to say. Knowledge is the key. Knowledge and cardio are the keys to being successful in this sport.

FiveKnuckles.com: Is there one particular fight that you want this time around in the UFC?

Dennis Hallman: I can't really say there's one fight I'm looking for, but I've always wanted to fight Frank Trigg again. I hate how my last fight with him ended up. It has nothing to do with him and everything to do with myself. Even though I wasn't successful against him, he's a guy that I know I can beat. I wasn't performing to the best of my ability at that time. I didn't prepare for him correctly. That would definitely be one I'd like back.

FiveKnuckles.com: Well Dennis, your toughness over the years has definitely paid off and you're definitely a pioneer of the sport. It's great to see you back in the UFC and best of luck this time around.

Dennis Hallman: Thank you.
