Aaron Riley unhappy with early stoppage
by Gavin Vincent on March 08, 2009

Aaron Riley expressed his disappointment in the early stoppage over loss to Ultimate Fighter participant Shane Nelson. Riley admitted to being in trouble early on but clearly felt the referee needed to give the fighter a fighter's chance. Riley isn't the only one who felt the fight was stopped a little premature. Boos filled the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio as the decision came down. Almost immediately after Riley was in trouble, the fight was stopped. One fan even shouted for his $390 cage-side tickets to be refunded.

Nelson won by stoppage to Riley who was coming off of two straight UFC Fight of the Night honors. Riley humbly congratulated Nelson and did not deny he was in trouble early. Riley simply asks for a little more recovery time and a chance to fight.
