Aaron Simpson hospitalized with infection; surgery leaves him out at UFN 22
by Jeff Jones on August 05, 2010

Aaron Simpson has been removed from his scheduled fight against David Branch at Ultimate Fight Night 22. As reported by mmadiehards.com, the middleweight fighter underwent surgery late Wednesday night for an unknown infection that began to spread throughout his body.

Simpson (7-1, 3-1 UFC) was training with teammates last week when he realized that his nose was causing him some discomfort. After visiting with a doctor on Friday, the infection had spread into his elbow by Saturday morning. Doctors performed surgery and are now testing samples to determine exactly what it is.

Simpson will remain in the hospital for a couple of days, then endure six weeks of IV treatments to ensure a full recovery.

Plus, Dave Branch really needs someone other than a wrestler right now. After getting KO'd by a slam, I'd say he needs another BJJ guy with good standup. I hope Simpson has a speedy recovery. thug4less: Wow, man. That's some scary stuff. Hope the dude comes through okay. Legend of Lee Murray: Yea that infection sounds suspect hopefully nothing serious!
