It didn't take long for Tim Sylvia's four-fight win streak to come to end.
The one-time UFC heavyweight champion lasted just 32 seconds against Abe Wagner at Titan Fighting Championship 16. Wagner stunned Sylvia early with an overhand right and the fight was stopped moments later when the 311-pound Sylvia dropped to the canvas.
Since an embarrassing 9-second loss to Ray Mercer back in 2009, Sylvia had won four straight, defeating Vince Lucero, Paul Buentello, Mariusz Pudzianowski and Jason Riley. However, the loss to Wagner basically puts Sylvia back at square one and it's looking more and more as if his days as anything more than a big-name sideshow are over.
Before tonight, Wagner was best known for his short stint on the Ultimate Fighter 10, where he was the first competitor eliminated from the show. Wagner said he received hate mail after the loss from fans telling him how much he stunk. He wanted to use his fight against Sylvia to redeem himself.
After his 32-second demolition of a once relevant heavyweight, it's safe to say Wagner accomplished what he set out to do at Titan Fighting Championship 16.
"I wanted to put the pressure on him," Wagner said after the fight. "I knew if I got inside his jab I was money."
Wagner was money and Sylvia is now one step closer to becoming a full-time police officer.
