Former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia and fellow UFC veteran Houston Alexander were the big winners coming out of Friday night's Adrenaline IV: "Sylvia vs. Riley."
The event took place this past Friday, Sept. 18, in front of an audience of about 2,000 at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa and was broadcast on HDNet.
In the main event, Tim Sylvia defeated prospect Jason Riley via first-round TKO. The win was Sylvia's first in nearly two years, and it snapped a three-fight losing streak, with his last loss being against former boxing champ Ray Mercer in June. The loss dropped Riley's career record to 6-2.
In the co-main event, the very popular Houston Alexander also snapped a three-fight losing streak by defeating Sherman Pendergarst in 1:51 of the first round. Alexander is still under contract with the UFC, however, he was given permission to compete in Adrenaline after losing three straight fights. Pendergarst has now lost five straight and sports a sub-par MMA record of 11-15.
Also in action, former UFC fighter Joe Vedepo scored a quick 14 second knockout win over Webster Farris. It was Vedepo's first win since being released by the UFC after going 0-2 in the promotion. In a battle between a pair of UFC vets, Forrest Petz earned a first round TKO win over Chad Reiner.
