Akihiro Gono leaves hospital after concussion; suffers possible brain hemorrhaging
by Gavin Vincent on August 03, 2009

Akihiro Gono (29-15-7) walked into the Saitama Super Arena on his own two feet but left on a stretcher after being on the receiving end of a Dan Hornbuckle (18-2) head kick. Gono is set to make a full recovery but suffered a concussion, possible brain hemorrhaging and a moderate neck injury as a result. Gono spent time in a hospital but left under his own power earlier today.

Hornbuckle leaves Sengoku 9 with an 18-2 professional record and a highlight reel knockout to add to his blossoming resume. Gono (29-15-7) is now on a three fight skid with recent UFC losses to Dan Hardy and Jon Fitch.
