Alan Belcher cleared to return to the UFC
by Thomas Casale on February 01, 2011

UFC middleweight contender Alan Belcher said on his Twitter account Tuesday that he has been cleared to return to the UFC and he wants to face the division's top competition.

Belcher has won four of his last five fights overall with victories over Ed Herman, Denis Kang, Wilson Gouveia and Patrick Cote. Belcher's only loss during that span was a split decision defeat to Yoshihiro Akiyama at UFC 100.

Belcher has been sidelined since a detached retina he suffered in training prior to a scheduled September 2010 bout with Demian Maia. According to Belcher, he's fully recovered from the injury and ready to get back into the Octagon. Now, he just needs an opponent.

Belcher asked his fans on Twitter who they thought he should fight next but warned he only wanted to go up against "big names" like Maia, Wanderlei Silva and Michael Bisping.

 |  (19) Comments TheNamelessHero: Id heart to c Belcher versus Bisping mike5k: I'd like Belcher-Bisping. Every middleweight on the planet is wanting to call out Wanderlei these days. I actually think Belcher might have been the one that started this trend. snuff: I see Belcher knocking out Bisping. And I would see myself gigling. :D He would lose to Maia and Wanderlei though. GO HARD: disagree. i think belcher has a better chance vs maia and wandy then he does bisping. flyangler: Pumped! I love Belcher against most 185 lbers. He is an exciting fighter to watch. Bisping aint gonna be able to box with Belcher and The Talent's got more power in his hands and legs and is better on the ground. Please set this up. GO HARD: when i say bisping is underrated im talking about with the hardcore fans. hardcore fans think they know everything. then when u get a group of hardcore fans that agree on something, they automatically think that there opinion is now fact. so u get Matthew , Mark, Luke , and John and they all hate bisping.. they say he is garbage, they said he has no power , they say he isnt that good. then u have Fred. well Fred is a bisping fan and watches Bisping fights a little bit more than the haters. he picks Bisping over Akiyama, while the others are saying "i hope akiyama knocks his head off" well guess what.. Bisping is a really good fighter, but in places like this u hear... Bisping sucks. so yes, bisping is underrated. SicJits: I think Bisping has more then his fair share of haters, but imo he isn't over nor under rated. He is solid, but he does have alot of holes in his game. He had a great showing against Miller, Akiyama...so what he was coming off a loss-to-main event lol they just needed a headliner for a shitty English card, lost to an 100yo Wandy who had lost 5 of his last 6 before bisping and ppl have farted on Wandy and ko'd him recently so...., beat an aged Dennis Kang who should've never left the Korean fight scene obviously, oh and who can forget the BEATING Hendo laid on that ass!!!!! and then hendo losses to a guy fighting at ww now...lol. Bisping is decent and entertaining, but he will never hold a UFC strap, unless someone lets him borrow it.:D I'd like to see Bisping/Belcheer, Bisping/Staan then will see were he's at. GO HARD: true, he will never be UFC champ.. but i like the fight with belcher and stann, my money is on my boy bisping. q; D TheNamelessHero: stann took out leben did bisdung? D_V: Bisping wins, easily. Belcher is way over rated.
