Middleweights Alan Belcher and Wilson Gouveia will look to rebound from recent losses suffered inside the octagon when they meet at UFC 107 in December. News of the bout comes courtesy of MMAWeekly.com.
Belcher (14-6) is coming off a close split decision loss against Yoshihiro Akiyama at UFC 100 in July. Prior to the loss, he had won two straight against the likes of Ed Herman at UFN 15 and Denis Kang at UFC 93. Belcher has had an up-and-down run with the UFC, sporting a 5-4 record with the promotion, with big wins coming over Kalib Starnes, current Sengoku middleweight champ Jorge Santiago and losses to Jason Day, Kendall Grove and Yushin Okami. Also of note, Belcher has finished 12 of his 14 career wins.
Gouveia was originally suppose to face Ed Herman at UFC 102: "Couture vs. Nogueira" last month, however, he was forced to withdraw from the event due to a back injury.
Gouveia (12-6) hasn't fought since losing to Nate Marquardt at UFC 95 in February. He previously won two straight bouts, which includes wins over Ryan Jensen and Jason MacDonald. Gouveia sports a respectable 6-3 UFC record, with key wins over Seth Petruzelli and Jason Lambert. The American Top Team fighter has finished all but one of his 12 career wins and holds a notable win outside the UFC over Jon Fitch.
Though not officially announced, UFC 107 is expected to take place on Dec. 12 at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee and will be headlined by a UFC lightweight title bout between current champ BJ Penn and top contender Diego Sanchez.
The event will also feature former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir taking on Cheick Kongo and a interesting lightweight bout in Kenny Florian vs. Clay Guida.
