UFC 129 is shaping up to be a very deep fight card.
Besides the main event of Georges St-Pierre vs. Jake Shields for the UFC welterweight title, it was announced on Tuesday that the card will also feature Jose Aldo vs. Mark Hominick and Randy Couture vs. Lyoto Machida.
Aldo (18-1), the first-ever UFC featherweight champion, has now won 11 fights in a row. Aldo defeated Mike Brown for the then-WEC featherweight belt in November of 2009 and has easily defended it twice against Urijah Faber and Manny Gamburyan.
Hominick (20-8) is on a nice little run of his own, winning five straight fights. Hominick recently dismantled George Roop at UFC Fight Night 23, earning him a shot at the featherweight crown.
Between acting gigs, Couture (19-10) has managed to win three consecutive fights. Since back-to-back losses to Brock Lesnar and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, "The Natural" has defeated Brandon Vera, Mark Coleman and James Toney.
Couture will make a step up in competition at UFC 129, although Machida (16-2) has dropped two straight fights to Mauricio "Shogun" Rua and Quinton "Rampage" Jackson after starting his MMA career 16-0. "The Dragon" will try to get back to his winning ways by beating one of the sports biggest icons.
UFC 129 takes place April 30 at Rogers Centre in Toronto.
