Aleksander Emelianenko, younger brother of Fedor Emelianenko, states that Fedor's coaches failed to prepare him for his bout with Dan Henderson according to fightersonlymagazine.co.uk.
"They sat like two amoebas, and did not know what to say. They were asked direct questions and would say, "It is difficult to say... we will see in the fight," - what kind of a coach says that? Only one who doesn't understand the sport. I just call them ‘Stopwatch' and ‘Towel'. That's as much use as they are, that's it." Aleksander said.
Fedor had a chip on his shoulder going into his bout with Henderson, losing his previous two fights. An initial offense from Fedor stunned Henderson but was ultimately defeated when Henderson rallied to TKO "The Last Emperor". A well placed uppercut from Henderson dropped Fedor and prompted a stoppage.
"MMA is constantly improving, but ‘Stopwatch' and ‘Towel' have not changed anything in the program - just frozen in time and not been able to develop the base that Fedor already has. Fedor could train himself, he must take on it personally, to rethink many of the training points to learn and develop. Suffer and work!" Aleksander added.
Aleksander further stated that he would be willing to aid his brother in acquiring a new coaching staff if he desires. Aleksander (17-4) himself is an established heavyweight, having competed in numerous promotions such as Pride and fought against the likes of Sergei Kharitonov, Fabricio Werdum, Mirko Filipovic and Josh Barnett.
Fedor is on a three fight losing streak after long being considered as the best fighter in all of MMA. His future in MMA is unknown.
