Alessio Sakara out of fight with Jorge Rivera, Constantinos Philippou steps in as replacement according to mmajunkie.com.
Sakara was slated to fight fellow striker, Rivera, at UFC 133 but an undisclosed injury has once again sidelined "Legionarius". Sakara (15-8 (1 no contest)) was slated to fight Rivera in the past but was forced off of that fight as well due to an injury prior to UFC 118. Another subsequent match up pitting the two was also scrapped at UFC 122 when Sakara began vomiting after suffering flu like symptoms backstage. Sakara has gained a devoted fan following through his 12 UFC fights that put his striking skills on full display.
Rivera (19-8) will be looking to rebound from his recent TKO loss to Michael Bisping at UFC 127. Prior to the loss, the 37 year old "El Conquistador" was making one last push towards title contention as he rode a three fight win streak. He defeated the likes of Nate Quarry, Rob Kimmons and Nissen Osterneck.
Philippou (7-2 (1 no contest)) is a member of the Serra-Longo fight team based out of New York. Philippou fell to Nick Catone in his UFC debut at UFC 128, losing via unanimous decision. He is a Ring of Combat veteran, going 7-1 with the local promotion.
Rivera's bout with Philippou might very well be among one of the last fights in his 10 year MMA career. Rivera has voiced his thoughts of considering retirement from MMA competition in the near future.
UFC 133 will be headlined by a Tito Ortiz and Rashad Evans rematch. The event is on August 6 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
