A middleweight bout between American Top Team's Alessio Sakara and Brazilian Top Team's Rousimar Palhares will finally come to fruition at the Ultimate Fighter season 10 finale on December 5 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Sakara and Palhares were first set to meet at UFC 99 in June, however, the UFC opted to move their bout to UFC 101. Palhares was then forced to withdraw from their UFC 101 bout due to a broken leg.
Sakara (14-7) has won two straight, with his most recent victory coming against former UFC middleweight title contender Thales Leites at UFC 101 earlier this month. Since entering the octagon in 2005, he has put together a 5-4 (1 No Contest) record with the promotion, with notable wins over Pride veteran James Lee and former UFC fighter Elvis Sinosic. Ten of Sakara's fourteen career wins have been via stoppages, including 8 by TKO or KO.
Palhares (9-2) hasn't fought since defeating MMA journeyman Jeremy Horn at UFC 93 in January. Prior to the win, he suffered his first loss in the octagon against Dan Henderson at UFC 88 last September. Palhares is 2-1 with the UFC having also earned a win in his octagon debut against Ivan Salaverry at UFC 84. The Fury Fighting Championship veteran has finished 6 of his 9 career wins by submission and he holds notable wins over the likes of Fabio Nascimento and Daniel Acacio.
