Anderson Silva happy to be compared to Jose Aldo

"Man, I get really happy to be a reference in relation to Jose Aldo. It's nice that people think that. This guy is a talent; a young kid that's building his niche in the sport. He has a great team behind him and he has everything needed to stay champion for many years and to bring more happiness to his team and to Brazil." -Anderson Silva

UFC middleweight champion and pound-for-pound great Anderson Silva is delighted to have his name mentioned in relation to WEC dynamo and newly crowned featherweight champion Jose Aldo.

Aldo's (16-1) style and skill set are strikingly similar to that of Silva's. Both have a long, lean frame, though Aldo stand 4-inches shorter and forty-pounds lighter, both are striking savants that routinely pull off flashy, kung-fu movie quality moves with unmatched quickness, and both are Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belts with good takedown defense. And now, both are champions.

Aldo defeated the highly regarded Mike Brown last Wednesday at WEC 44, serving up a thrilling 2nd-round knockout over the American Top Team product and likely ushering in a new era in MMA's featherweight division.

Next up for the 23-year-old phenom could be a showdown with the winner of Urijah Faber vs. Raphael Assuncao set for WEC 46
