Anderson Silva vs. Matt Hughes in 2008?
by Jason Perkins on October 23, 2007

UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva recently told Sherdog.com that he would look forward to fighting Matt Hughes.

“I would love to fight Matt Hughes if the UFC asked me to. He is a great fighter, and those are the people I want to fight.”

Hughes stated earlier this year that he plans to go up to middleweight in order to challenge Anderson Silva sometime in 2008 if Silva were able to get past Rich Franklin in their second meeting. Silva has done his part emphatically; now it's up to Hughes to take care of his business with Serra and move up to 185.

This fight could actually happen as the UFC is light on fighters that draw at middleweight and Hughes is still one of the most recognizable names in the sport. We'll keep you posted as this story develops.
