Andre Winner and John Howard released from the UFC
by Hubert Lau on July 11, 2011

Andre Winner and John Howard were both recently released from the UFC according to fightersonlymagazine.co.uk and Howard's personal twitter respectively.

An Ultimate Fighter runner-up in the US vs. UK season, Winner (11-6-1) ended his UFC run with a record of 2-4. Throughout his fights and his appearance on the show, Winner displayed crisp striking but lacked the necessary grappling skills that would allow him to progress to the next level. He was on a three fight losing streak upon his release, recently losing to Anthony Njokuani via unanimous decision at UFC 132.

Howard (14-7) began his UFC career with a flawless 4-0 record which also saw the Boston native earning Fight of the Night and Knockout of the Night in his bouts with Chris Wilson and Daniel Roberts. Similar to Winner, Howard was also on a three fight skid. He loss to Matt Brown at UFC on Versus 4 via unanimous decision in his last octagon outing.

"My plans right now is to either go to Bellator or Dream. Or something else man, whoever makes me the best offer, I'm going there man. Make some money, that's my goal right now" Howard said in a video he posted through is twitter.

Winner and Howard could both return to the regional circuit or seek out other notable MMA promotions such as Bellator.

 |  (4) Comments The Hitman: Very interesting cuts... Hizoka: Winner was a good cut... the guy is a kickboxer in an MMA promotion... sorry but you cannot be a MMA fighter if you cannot handle things when it goes to the ground... and in his last fight he was 100% outclassed on the feet from the start to the finish of the fight, he was completely out of his league. Wandering_Minstrel: Howard vs Brown was pretty close. I think that was a tough fight to score to be honest.
