Andrei Arlovski and Mark Ellis are officially apart of the ProElite roster as both men signed multi-fight contracts; Reagan Penn looking to make his debut at the promotion's August event as well according to mmaweekly.com.
Arlovski (15-9), once a UFC heavyweight champ, will look to resurrect his career with ProElite. Arlovski has loss his last four bouts, three by the way of viscous knockout. He's planned to headline ProElite's inaugural event in Hawaii, while his opponent remains in question.
American Kickboxing Academy's Mark Ellis will be making his MMA debut on the same event. Despite his lack of experience, Ellis is a heavyweight NCAA wrestling champion and has also trained with the likes of Cain Velasquez and Dave Camarillo. In fact, Ellis and Velasquez worked extensively together to prepare Velasquez for his title bout against Brock Lesnar at UFC 121.
"Bringing in a mix of veterans and young fighters are exactly how we want to build Pro Elite. Watching Andrei Arlovski work his way back to the top, and then seeing a young guy like Mark Ellis develop into a potential star, it's going to be great to see how this all develops" T. Jay Thompson, ProElite's director of fight operations, said.
Reagan Penn is looking to make his MMA debut at ProElite's August event as well. Reagan is the younger brother of BJ Penn. While lacking experience, Reagan is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt and has trained with BJ for years and can be seen cornering at BJ's fights.
ProElite's untitled event is held on August 27 at the Neil S. Blaisdell Arena in Honolulu, Oahu, Hawaii. UFC veteran, Kendall Grove, is also rumored to make an appearance.
