Anthony Johnson injured, forced to withdraw from UFC on Versus
by Giada Esposito on February 14, 2010

Anthony Johnson will have to wait once again to settle his well-publicized differences with John Howard.

Howard was originally expected to fight Johnson last summer, before he pulled out of the fight upon the advice of his management, who felt he wasn't ready to face a fighter of Johnson's caliber. That led to some intense verbal sparring between the two during the lead up to their fight, which was scheduled to take place on March 21 on the UFC on Versus event.

Unfortunately, Johnson's manager Ken Pavia has now revealed that Johnson has suffered a knee injury which will force him to withdraw from the fight. There is no word yet on the severity of the injury, or how long it will keep Johnson sidelined.

Johnson, who is 8-3 in his career, last fought against Josh Koscheck at UFC 106, when he suffered a second-round submission loss.

Howard is 13-4 in his career, and has a current six-fight win streak, with his most recent win coming by way of knockout against Dennis Hallman at The Ultimate Fighter 10 finale.

Hizoka: karma is biting the UFC in the ass putting on events on a channel a large portion of their audiance does not get D_V: he's so explosive and/or athletic that it's tough for him to stay healthy. thug4less: I'd just like to know what the Hell Johnson is doing in training that he keeps screwing himself up. xdusty: rumbles a bum. cant make weight, gets layed out by kos, cant stay healthy. man this everyone getting hurt thing is getting old MAStudent: I wouldn't call him a bum. myself, but I don't usually root for fighters like Johnson. He is too stiff, and obviously thinking about his muscles/ being strong all the time. It makes him move in a jerky way, will make him tire on longer fights, and is not what MMA is all about. They just showed him getting owned by Koscheck on Unleashed tonight.
