Anthony Johnson will be moving up to the middleweight division come UFC 142. Waiting for him is none other than Vitor Belfort but Johnson is confident that whatever Belfort dishes out at him, he can do better according to mmamania.com.
"I feel just fine about the matchup. He can't do nothing that I can't do. Anything he thinks he can do, I think I can do better. I think it's a pretty even matchup. He's fast, I'm fast. He's powerful, I'm powerful," Johnson said.
Johnson (10-3) has been competing mostly in the UFC's welterweight division with much success, racking up seven TKO/KO stoppages of his 10 wins. "Rumble" is currently riding a two fight win streak, defeating Charlie Brenneman and Dan Hardy.
"It's going to be a fight that really determines who's the man at the end of the day. Either one of us can get dropped, so it's going to see who has the most heart...All I know is I'm going to win," Johnson said.
Both Johnson and Belfort possess crisp striking that can end the fight at any time but Johnson does hold an edge over Belfort, his wrestling. As evident by his bout with Hardy, Johnson can effectively negate any dangerous exchanges with "The Phenom" if he is able to take the fight to the ground. Will this be Johnson's game plan? Time will tell.
Johnson vs. Belfort is set for UFC 142 which is held on January 14, 2012 at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
