WEC 43 is filling out quickly. The latest addition is a lightweight bout between Alex Karalexis and Anthony Pettis. This bout was first reported by MMAjunkie.com.
Karalexis is coming off a first-round TKO win over Greg McIntyre at WEC 39 in March. Prior to that win, he was on a two-fight skid losing to Ed Ratcliff at WEC 31 and Bart Palaszewski at WEC 37. Karalexis won his first three fights in the WEC over Thomas Denny, Olaf Alfonso and Josh Smith. Half of Karalexis' 10 career wins have come via TKO or KO.
Pettis made a successful WEC debut in his last fight by defeating Mike Campbell at WEC 41 last month. He sports an undefeated 7-0 MMA record, with 3 wins by TKO and 3 by submission. Prior to his WEC debut, Pettis' six previous wins came during his time with the Gladiators Fighting Series.
WEC 43 takes place on September 2 in Youngstown, Ohio and will be televised live on Versus. The event's headliner is a WEC interim lightweight title bout between Donald Cerrone and Ben Henderson.
