Antonio Rogerio Nogueira can see action as quick as June and looks towards Rich Franklin for a fight according to tatame.com.
Nogueira is currently recovering from a knee surgery suffered in training that removed him from a schedule bout with Alexander Gustafsson at UFC on Fuel TV 2. If all goes according to plan, Nogueira is making a speedy recovery which should allow him to return to full training by next month and even fight by June. The first man Nogueira wants to fight upon his recovery is Franklin, the two were set to fight at UFC 133 but Nogueira suffered a shoulder injury prior to the event.
"I was supposed to fight him in the past and I already know what game plan to use against him. He's a guy who likes to stand-up. It'll be good. One left-handed fighting another left-handed is something good to see," Nogueira said.
Nogueira's last Octagon appearance was a TKO victory over Tito Ortiz at UFC 140. In recent fights, Nogueira posted a 2-2 record over four fights and will be looking to make it two in a row when he's recovered.
"It would be an excellent fight. I need a good fight. I need to keep the performance I had against Tito Ortiz. I owe it to people," Nogueira said.
An official booking matching up Nogueira and Franklin has yet to be made but Franklin is scheduled to return to action in late summer after undergoing shoulder surgery. Franklin's last fight was over a year ago, a unanimous decision loss to Forrest Griffin at UFC 126.
