Antonio Silva and Edwin Dewees Test Positive for Steroids

The California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) recently announced that EliteXC heavyweight champion Antonio Silva and Affliction: Banned participant Edwin Dewees both tested positive for banned substances.

Dewees, who recently dropped a first round TKO to Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at Affliction: Banned tested positive for nandrolone to the tune of 499ng/mL. The normal range is from 2ng/mL to 6ng/mL.

Silva tested positive for Boldenone which is an anabolic steroid used for veterinarian purposes.

The CSAC has fined both fighters $2,500 and issued one year suspensions for both men retroactive to the end of each of their last fights.

All other fighters who took part in both Affliction: Banned and EliteXC/CBS's Second Saturday Night Fight's Event tested negative for banned substances.
