BJ Penn vs. Jon Fitch rematch scheduled for UFC 132
by Paulo Silva on March 17, 2011

UFC president Dana White confirmed late last night that BJ Penn and Jon Fitch have both verbally agreed to a rematch of their razor thin draw at UFC 127

The fight will likely headline or co-headline UFC 132, expected to take place in Las Vegas, NV, on July 2.

Their first fight at UFC 127 a few weeks ago, was originally slated as a welterweight title eliminator fight with the winner getting a shot at the winner of the upcoming championship scrap between current champion Georges St. Pierre and Jake Shields, however, after three rounds of action, judges were unable to determine a winner and the fight was ruled a majority draw.

Penn, who won the fights' first two rounds according to two of the judges scoring ringside, was battered in the third and spent almost the entire round with Fitch in his guard. But, the AKA product did enough damage in their eyes in the fights' final frame to warrent a 10-8 round for Fitch, making the fight a majority draw.

Both fighters expect to push hard to keep the fight out of the judges hands this time around.

 |  (12) Comments flyangler: Fitch by more Fitching GO HARD: this fight is stupid Lay'n'PrayNINJA: GSP has said for years that he wants to move to MW. GSP started "bulking up" for a move to MW well over a year ago. GSP has shown MAJOR reluctance now that the timing is right. Anderson is now even offering a 178 pound cathweight, since GSP now has to "check with his sponsors" and "talk to his team"..... Greedydrunk: Getting this back on topic I think this plays in to Penn's hands well as long as he still has heart and desire to fight. We all know that Fitch's gameplan isnt going to change but with Hughes help Penn's can get better. Now back off topic again: GSP would be well served to fight at the catch weight as a super fight rather than actually go up to middleweight. This sport is all about money and winning and those two things are tied together for the most part. GSP will make better money doing the superfight but staying at 170 and continuing to be the big fish with the best endorsements.
