Bart Palaszewski vs. Anthony Pettis slated for WEC 45
by Jacob Camargo on October 30, 2009

A lightweight bout between Bart Palaszewski and Anthony Pettis is in the works for WEC 45 in December. News of the bout was first reported by MMAjunkie.com.

The newly announced WEC 45 event takes place on Dec. 19 at The Pearl at The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, NV. The event is headlined by a lightweight bout between Donald Cerrone and Ed Ratcliff.

Following two straight losses in the WEC against Ricardo Lamas and Anthony Njokuani respectively, Palaszewski (31-13) most recently was allowed to take a fight outside the WEC, facing and defeating Tyler Combs XFO 32 earlier this month in New Munster, WI.

Palaszewski has put together a sub par 1-2 WEC record, with his lone win coming in his promotional debut against Alex Karalexis. He has fought for other notable promotions during his seven year career such as Shooto, Extreme Challenge,  Adrenaline MMA and the now-defunct IFL promotion, where he went 8-4 during a 12-fight stint from April 2006 to April 2008.

Pettis has not fought since making a successful WEC debut at June's WEC 41 event, where he defeated Mike Campbell. He was originally set to fight Alex Karalexis at WEC 43 in October, but that bout was scrapped after Karalexis was injured during training. Then Pettis was slated to face Rob McCullough at WEC 44 in November, however, an undisclosed injury knocked Pettis off that event.

Since turning pro in December of 2007, Pettis has put together a perfect 7-0 start to his MMA career. The longtime Gladiators Cage Fighting veteran has scored first-round stoppage victories in 6 of his 7 career wins.
