The WEC today announced the addition of a lightweight bout between Bart Palaszewski and Karen Darabedyan to the televised main card portion of its nearly complete WEC 47 event on March 6 at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.
WEC 47 is headlined by a bantamweight title bout between current WEC bantamweight champion Brian Bowles and challenger Dominick Cruz.
Palaszewski (33-13) is currently on a two-fight winning streak, with his most recent win coming over Anthony Pettis at WEC 45 in December. Prior to the wins, he lost back-to-back WEC fights against Ricardo Lamas and Anthony Njokuani. Palaszewski holds an even 2-2 WEC record, with his only other win in the promotion coming against Alex Karalexis in his WEC debut.
Palaszewski has fought for other notable promotions during his eight year career such as Shooto, Extreme Challenge, SuperBrawl, Adrenaline MMA and the now-defunct IFL promotion, where he went 8-4 during a long 12-fight stint from April 2006 to April 2008. He has finished 25 of his 33 career wins and holds other notable career wins over Luke Caudillo and Joe Jordan.
Darabedyan has won his last seven bouts, which includes wins over Saad Awad, Joe Camacho, and Estevan Payan. He most recently scored an impressive split decision win over former WEC lightweight champion Rob McCullough in his WEC debut in November at WEC 44. Prior to the wins, he suffered his first career loss against Koji Oishi in December 2007.
The Shark Fights and Call To Arms veteran has put together a nearly perfect 8-1 MMA record since turning pro in July 2006.
