Bellator's Ben Askren on Nate Marquardt: "Come to Bellator and I will crush you"
by Hubert Lau on June 28, 2011

Ben Askren, Bellator's welterweight champion, was very vocal on his twitter account as he responds to the recent news of Nate Marquardt testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) that got him cut from the UFC.

"You are a cheater, not once but frequently. Stop cheating, come to Bellator and I will crush you," Askren posted on his twitter.

As reported earlier, Marquardt recently revealed on the MMA Hour that his TRT treatment was the cause for his removal from the main event at UFC on Versus 4 and his release from the UFC.

In the same interview, Marquardt's manager stated that Marquardt was to fight soon and had offers from numerous MMA promotions. Bellator could no doubt be one of them as they stand as one of the more recognizable names outside of the UFC and Strikeforce.

Askren was a member of the 2008 US Olympic wrestling team and is currently undefeated in his MMA career, holding a record of 8-0 and the Bellator welterweight title. He is expected to make his first defense against Jay Hieron.

Although the nature of Marquardt's MMA future is uncertain, Askren's twitter post might be trying to sway the once UFC middleweight contender into joining the Bellator ranks.

 |  (16) Comments Hizoka: kinda agree with the guy about Nate being a cheater at this point... that TRT crap is bogus... NONE of the champions need it and they are far more dominate and hard working then Nate or Sonnen.... Guys are trying to get a doctors note to ok them cheating IwishIwasMMA: Juicing or not, Marquardt would still get this guy. The Hitman: I hate cheaters.
