"This isn't U.K. vs. America. This is Michael Bisping vs. Brian Stann. It's an individual sport and come the 22nd of September, I'm going to individually kick the crap out of Brian Stann. When he was in basic training shining his boots, I was in the UFC kicking ass. I'm getting better and better with every fight, I'm maturing as a fighter, I feel I'm in my prime, and I'm ready to beat Brian Stann and then take that title... I want my shot. People have had their shot. Others have had their shot, stepped in there and fallen over with a little slap. I won't do that, I'll turn up to fight. Anderson Silva will be in the fight of his life when we fight, and we will fight. I will beat Brian Stann and I will fight Anderson Silva." - Michael Bisping via UFC.com
Michael Bisping has always been a bit of a talker, but he's really been able to back up his mouth of late.
The feisty Brit ran off 4-straight victories since a decision loss to Wanderlei Silva back in 2010 at UFC 110, dispatching of Dan Miller, Yoshihiro Akiyama, Jorge Rivera, and Jason Miller in succession before dropping a closely contested decision loss to Chael Sonnen in January.
The victory would have granted Bisping his long desired shot at long-time middleweight top dog, Anderson Silva.
As it stands, Bisping will have to get back to the grind, but his tough showing against Sonnen should shield him from being pushed too far back in the middleweight title shot pecking order. A solid win against Stann, and the fact that he's yet to face Silva, could be all that's required to clinch his position as the divisions' top contender.
