A pair of WEC newcomers, Brandon Visher and Tyler Toner, have verbally agreed to meet in a featherweight bout set for the preliminary portion of the WEC 45 event in December. News of the bout was first reported by MMAjunkie.com.
Toner is currently on a five-fight unbeaten streak, with his most recent win coming against Fabio Serrao at Ring of Fire 35 in August. Prior to the unbeaten streak, he suffered his first career loss against current WEC bantamweight Scott Jorgensen in April 2007.
Toner is the current Ring of Fire featherweight champion and has fought most of his career with the organization, fighting nine of his 11 career fights with the Colorado-based promotion. He sports a nearly flawless MMA record of 9-1, with seven wins coming by stoppage and holds notable career victories over Mike Aragon and Ricky Johnson.
Visher enters the WEC having put together a 12-0 MMA record, with 9 of those victories coming via stoppage. The Hawaiian native is the current Up & Up Extreme Cagefighting featherweight champion and most recently defeated Strikeforce veteran Issac de Jesus at the promotion's September event. During his five year career, Visher has competed for other notable Hawaiian promotions such as X-1 and Rumble on the Rock.
WEC 45 is set for Dec. 19 at The Pearl at The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, NV, and the main card will air live on Versus. The event is headlined by a lightweight bout between Donald Cerrone and Ed Ratcliff.
In addition, former IFL star Chris Horodecki meets rising contender Anthony Njokuani in another lightweight feature and Joseph Benavidez will battle it out with submission ace Rani Yahya in a bantamweight tilt.
