Brandon Visher vs. Tyler Toner in the works for WEC 48
by Jacob Camargo on March 03, 2010

Undefeated featherweight prospect Brandon Visher and WEC newcomer Tyler Toner will attempt to fight for the second time in April, as both men have reportedly verbally agreed to meet on the un-aired preliminary portion of the WEC 48 event.

Visher and Toner were originally slated to face each other at WEC 45 in December, however Toner was forced off of the event after he was denied a license to fight by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for failing to meet Nevada's licensing requirements due to his eye examination results.

Visher was successful in his WEC debut, as he scored a first round TKO win over late replacement Courtney Buck at the aforementioned WEC 45 event in December. The Hawaiian native previously captured the Up & Up Extreme Cagefighting featherweight title by defeating Strikeforce veteran Issac de Jesus at the promotion's September event.

Visher has put together a 13-0 MMA record over his five-year career, with 10 of those victories coming via stoppage. He competed for other notable Hawaiian promotions such as X-1, Full Force MMA, and Rumble on the Rock.

Toner is currently on a five-fight unbeaten streak, with his most recent win coming against Fabio Serrao at Ring of Fire 35 in August. Prior to the unbeaten streak, he suffered his first career loss against current WEC bantamweight Scott Jorgensen in April 2007.

Toner is the current Ring of Fire featherweight champion and has fought nine of his 11 career fights with the Colorado-based promotion. He sports a nearly flawless MMA record of 9-1, with seven wins coming by stoppage, and holds notable career victories over Mike Aragon and Ricky Johnson.

WEC 48: "Aldo vs. Faber" takes place on April 24 at the ARCO Arena in Sacramento, Calif., and the event's main card will be televised live on Pay-Per-View, which will be the promotion's PPV debut. The event is headlined by a WEC featherweight championship bout between champion Jose Aldo and challenger Urijah Faber.

In addition, WEC lightweight champion Benson Henderson will take on Donald Cerrone in a rematch from their previous "Fight of the Year" candidate at WEC 43 in October. Also, former WEC featherweight champion Mike Brown will look to get back on the winning track against the streaking Manny Gamburyan.
