Brendan Schaub meets another legend, faces Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 134.
by Tim Groves on May 15, 2011

Brendan Schaub (8-1) and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (32-6-1 1 NC) will meet at UFC 134, according to Sportsnet.ca.

UFC 134 will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on August 27.

A mere day after Nogueira appeared on the Brazilian television show Globo Esporte and revealed that he would fight at UFC 134, word comes that he will meet Brendan Schaub at the event. Nogueira voiced his desire to compete in the co-main event at the historic Brazilian event.

Nogueira will step into the Octagon for the first time since February 2010 when he was defeated by Cain Velasquez. Surgeries to both his hip and his knee have kept the Pride veteran on the shelf. Nogueira is on the downswing of his career, going 2-2 in his past four fights. Both losses came by way by knockout, a first for Nogueira.

Schaub will look to take on another legend after he defeated Mirko Cro Cop at UFC 128 in March. It was his fourth straight victory in the UFC after losing to Roy Nelson on the finale of The Ultimate Fighter. Schaub, a former professional football player, brings unprecedented athleticism into the cage. A former Golden Gloves champion as well, Schaub prefers to stand and trade with his opponents, evident by his three knockout victories in the UFC.

UFC 134 is headlined by a middleweight title fight between Anderson Silva and Yushin Okami.

Different sport, different striking. I believe a few strikes out struck Bonnar who is also a golden gloves champ or at least a fighter. mike5k: I think we're splitting hairs here on the Golden Gloves. I didn't research it at all but from what I see here I'm thinking maybe he was a Golden Gloves STATE champ and the Golden Gloves site lists National Champs. Just a guess. flyangler: Golden Gloves or not Nog is gonna take a beating.
