Brendan Schaub to take the "anti-Chael Sonnen route" in his upcoming bout with Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, respecting the former Pride and UFC heavyweight champion in his native Brazil when they fight at UFC 134 according to mmamania.com.
"I'm definitely kind of going the ‘anti-Chael Sonnen' route. I embrace Brazil and to me it's always been a dream of mine to compete there and I'm definitely taking full advantage of this opportunity...I've been nothing but respectful of Nogueira. I think that's the only way to go. Especially when you're dealing with these legends. This is my second big legend in a row so it's something I'm getting used to" Schaub said.
Chael Sonnen has been notorious for his numerous verbal assaults directed towards Brazilian fighters; among his targets are Anderson Silva, Lyoto Machida and Wanderlei Silva. For Schaub, trash talk is not in his game plan since he rather provide the fans with a good fight and hopefully a win against Nogueira
"I still expect to get booed, but I think the Brazilian culture and the people respect what I do and they're just looking for a good fight come August 27 and that's what they're going to get" Schaub said.
Schaub last defeated Mirko Filipovic at UFC 128 via knockout in the third round and "The Hybrid" believes a win over Nogueira would set him up for a shot at the UFC's heavyweight title. Schaub is currently riding a four fight win streak since his sole loss to Roy Nelson at The Ultimate Fighter season 10 finale nearly two years ago.
UFC 134 on August 27 will be held at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The event is headlined by a middleweight title bout featuring Anderson Silva looking to defend his title for the ninth consecutive time against Yushin Okami. Schaub and Nogueira are to fight on the main card.
