Brett Rogers has a grim return to the MMA scene, dropping a split decision to Eddie Sanchez at Titan FC 20.
The man who was once considered one of the sport's top heavyweight prospects was nowhere to be seen on the September 23 event. Rogers was battered by leg kicks from Sanchez throughout their fight and showed notable fatigue as well as trouble standing up in the bout's closing round. Sanchez, a UFC veteran, improves to 13-5 and is now 3-2 in his last fight fights. Rogers drops to 11-4, going 1-4 in his last five bouts.
This was Rogers' first fight after being involved in a domestic violence case earlier this year. According to initial charges, Rogers assaulted his wife in front of their child and would have faced up to five years in prison. However charges against him were dropped when his wife refused to testify against her husband.
Titan FC 20's main event pitted Dakota Cochrane against former WEC lightweight champion, Jamie Varner. After a hard fought bout and a last ditch flying triangle attempt, Varner ultimately drops a unanimous decision to Cochrane. Cochrane improves to 10-1 and Varner falls to 17-6-1 and 2 no contest.
