Veteran welterweight Chris Lytle has a new opponent for his Octagon return at UFC 110 in February, as he will now face up-and-comer Brian Foster, who replaces the injured Dong Hyun Kim.
Foster broke the news of the match up on his official MySpace account.
"...is fighting in Australia against Chris "Lights Out" Lytle in UFC 110.. This fight could be fight of the year expect fireworks!!!!" said Foster in his status update.
As reported here earlier this month, Kim was forced to pull out of the welterweight bout against Lytle due to a knee injury.
Foster (13-4) is 4-1 in his last five bouts, most recently scoring an impressive second-round submission (punches) win over the very experienced Brock Larson at UFC 106 last month. His lone loss over the stretch came in his previous bout against Rick Story in his UFC debut in September at UFC 103.
The longtime Masters of the Cage veteran has finished all of his 13 career wins, and holds notable wins during his three-year career over the likes of Mike Jackson and Nathan Coy. He hones his skills at Matt Hughes' H.I.T. Squad gym in Granite City, IL.
Lytle (27-17-5) has been up and down as of late, going 3-3 in his last six fights. He last saw action at TUF 9 Finale in June, where he defeated Kevin Burns, earning him his third straight "Fight of the Night" bonus. Lytle was originally set to fight Carlos Condit at UFC Fight Night 19 in September, but was forced out of the event due to a severe knee injury. He underwent surgery to replace his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and repair his medial meniscus.
Lytle has put together a 6-9 record during his long tenure with the UFC, with his first Octagon appearance dating back to November 2000 at UFC 28.
During his 10-year career, Lytle has fought for a variety of other notable promotions such as WEC, Cage Rage, Pancrese and HOOKnSHOOT. He has finished 21 of his 27 career wins, including 17 by submission, and he holds other notable career wins over Aaron Riley, Pat Healy, Matt Brown and Kazuo Misaki.
UFC 110 takes place on Feb. 21 at the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia. The event will likely feature a heavyweight bout between contenders Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Cain Velasquez. In addition, a very interesting middleweight bout between the U.K.'s Michael Bisping and former Pride superstar Wanderlei Silva will also be featured on the card.
