It seems as if Wanderlei Silva may have gotten what he wished for.
After expressing resentment towards the idea of taking on Brian Stann, it is now being reported by MMAJunkie.com that Jorge Santiago, not Silva, will be meeting Stann at UFC 130 in May.
Stann looks to make it three straight after dropping down to the middleweight division. He submitted Mike Massenzio back in August 2010 and then shocked the world by TKOing Chris Leben at UFC 125. The win pushed Stann into the midst of a crowded middleweight title picture.
His opponent, Jorge Santiago, will be making his return to the UFC after an initial 1-2 stint with the organization. After consecutive losses to Chris Leben and Alan Belcher, Santiago was cut from the UFC and was forced to work his way back. He compiled an 11-1 record fighting for both Strikeforce and Sengoku before being signed back.
Bout agreements have yet to be signed for Stann/Santiago but the fight seems all but assured. This now opens up Wanderlei Silva to take on Vitor Belfort, a fight he has been begging for lately.
