Brian Stann vs. Steve Cantwell rubber match set for UFN 19
by Jacob Camargo on July 21, 2009

Light-heavyweights Brian Stann and Steve Cantwell will meet for the third time when the two lock horns at UFC Fright Night 19.

The two previous fights between Stann and Cantwell took place during their time in the WEC. In their first encounter, Stann finished Cantwell just 41 seconds into the fight at WEC 26. Cantwell would rebound in their second meeting showing a versatile standup game en route to earning a knockout victory over Stann in the second round at WEC 35. Not too long after their second fight, the WEC eliminated its light-heavyweight division, and both fighter's contacts were picked up by the UFC.

Cantwell (7-2) is coming off a loss to Luiz Cane in April at UFC 97. He had won four straight prior to the loss which included a win in his UFC debut against Razak Al-Hassan at UFN 16 last December. He holds notable wins over Richie Hightower and Tim McKenzie.

Stann (6-2) has lost two straight with his latest loss coming against Krzysztof Soszynski in his UFC debut back in April at UFC 97. Stann had won the first six bouts of his career prior to the losses, including a win over Doug Marshall to capture the WEC light-heavyweight title. All six of his wins have come by knockout.

UFN 19 takes place on September 16 from the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The event will air on Spike TV prior to the debut episode of the TUF season 10.
