A welterweight bout between WEC veteran Brock Larson and Brian Foster is set for the near complete preliminary portion of the UFC 106 fight card. News of the bout came from MMAWeekly.com.
Larson (26-3) is coming off of an upset loss against Mike Pierce at UFN 19 last month. He previously won five straight fights, including his first two fights back in the UFC against Jesse Sanders and Mike Pyle. Before coming back to the UFC, Larson went 4-1 with ZUFFA's other promotion, WEC, scoring notable wins over Kevin Knabjian, John Alessio and Carlo Prater, while suffering his lone loss in the promotion against former WEC welterweight champion Carlos Condit.
Larson owns a 3-2 record with the UFC, with a win in a previous stint with the promotion over Keita Nakamura. The longtime Extreme Challenge veteran has finished 23 of his 26 career wins including 18 coming by submission. He has picked up other notable wins in his seven-year career over the likes of DaMarques Johnson, Erik Apple and Ryan McGivern.
Foster (12-4) recently suffered a hard-fought loss in his UFC debut against Ricky Story at UFC 103 on Sept. 26. Despite the loss, Foster did not walk away empty handed as he shared Fight of the Night honors with Story, pocketing an extra $65,000.
Prior to the loss at UFC 103, Foster won three straight fights, including a first-round submission win over Strikeforce veteran Nathan Coy. The longtime Master of the Cage veteran has finished all 12 of his career wins. He hones his skills at Matt Hughes' H.I.T. Squad gym.
UFC 106 takes place on Nov. 21 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center Las Vegas, NV, and will air live via PPV.
The event will be headlined by a heavyweight title bout between current champion Brock Lesnar and challenger, Shane Carwin. In addition, a rematch between former UFC light-heavyweight champions, Tito Ortiz and Forrest Griffin, will serve as the co-main event.
