The UFC has officially announced Brock Larson as the replacement opponent for Chris Wilson at UFC 98. The UFC has also decided to move the Wilson-Larson bout to the preliminary card in favor of a middleweight fight between heavy-hitters James Irvin and Drew McFedries.
UFC 98 is now officially complete with the announcement of Wilson/Larson; the event takes place on May 23 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Wilson's original UFC 98 opponent Josh Koscheck had to bow out of the bout due to a foot injury suffered during training.
Chris Wilson, who now trains with Team Nogueira in Brazil, is coming off a defeat to UFC newcomer John Howard at UFC 94 back in January. Former IFL and Bodog fighter, Wilson, sports a 14-5 overall MMA record, with notable wins over Pat Healy, Jay Hieron and Rory Markham.
Brock Larson is currently on a 4-fight win streak, with his most recent win coming over Jesse Sanders at April 1st's UFC fight night 18. Before the Sanders fight, Larson had been fighting in the WEC's now defunct welterweight division, where he was 4-1, with his lone WEC loss coming to Carlos Condit.
