The wait is over. Brock Lesnar is set to appear on ESPN's "SportsCenter" tomorrow morning to talk about his health condition.
On Jan. 20 at 11 a.m. EST, the UFC heavyweight champion will finally break his silence about his illnesses. Last week, it was reported that Lesnar and UFC President Dana White would hold a press conference to speak on the issue. However, that has since been canceled in favor of an appearance by Lesnar on ESPN. This news was first reported by MMAJunkie.com.
So what will come of his appearance? While Lesnar is poised to give everyone an update on the quality of his health, it is possible that he will also lay out a timetable for his return to the Octagon.
Over the past month or so, White has said that Lesnar's illness could end his career, but that he would like to see his friend recover and fight again in the Octagon. A week and a half ago, White said that he had "no comment" about Lesnar's health, sparking many thoughts that Lesnar's health was getting worse and that a comeback was unlikely. However, the following day, two of Lesnar's trainers commented that the champion will fight again someday soon, although they did not give a potential return date.
Lesnar illnesses have been known to the public for the past three months - since the end of October 2009, when he pulled out of his UFC 106 bout against Shane Carwin, which would have taken place on Nov. 21. However, Lesnar has been out of the Octagon since his last fight in July 2009 at UFC 100 when came out victorious over Frank Mir.
Mir and Carwin are currently set to face each other at UFC 111 on March 27 for the interim heavyweight title. The owner of the interim belt would likely face Lesnar upon his return, dependent upon when that is.
