Brock Lesnar's future decided in one week
by Natalia Baage on January 03, 2010

Answers about Brock Lesnar and the heavyweight division will come out in a week, according to UFC President Dana White.

Since Lesnar's mysterious illness, which has caused a lot of havoc in the 265-lbs. weight class, there has been no clear future for the division. With the champion out and many contenders on the rise, it has been tough for the fighters to be patient and wait to hear news about Lesnar's return.

"We'll know this week," White told MMAJunkie.com. "I think Brock's going to the doctor this week, and we'll know how this thing is going to go - whether it's over... It could be career-ending for him."

White has previously stated that Lesnar went to the Mayo Clinic, as well as many other doctors, in order to find out more news about his illness. Nevertheless, there is still a chance that Lesnar's career may be over, said White.

"We hope to see Lesnar back in the cage," White said. "He still has a lot to accomplish."

However, the heavyweight division is still in limbo. At the pre-UFC 108 press conference, White said that the rumored fight between Frank Mir and Shane Carwin at UFC 111 (March 27) is likely to take place. Depending on Lesnar's medical results, the Mir vs. Carwin fight could be upgraded from an interim title fight to an actual title fight.
